The Passing of Mark Hutchison

I regret to have to let everyone know about this. Mark was by far one of our classes biggest personailites and will be missed.

Many of you know that Mark has had a rough time with his health since his accidental fall and those complications have finally caught up with him.

Mark passed away this morning, June 6, 2012 in OKC.

The funeral for Mark is Sunday, June 10, 2pm at Anderson Burris funeral home in Enid. The Frisco will be honoring "Hutch" between noon & 2pm that day should those who knew and loved him care to partake in the "honoring" activity.

30 Year Reunion

Hey guys! I'll be updating this website soon.

There are tons of photos on the Facebook page from the reunion.
The link is above.

The slide show from the reunion is online now with music. After you push play you can move your mouse and some controls will pop up in the upper right corner. You can use these to stop, turn off music or go full screen.

Although this is the same slide show from the reunion you will not ever be able to get the same effect that we all had hearing the laughter, the comments, the heckling and even the tears. I wish you all could have been there. Enjoy.

Hey Everyone!

Hey Guys, sorry about the lack of updates! Seems like most everyone has found their way to Facebook and keeps their information updated there. Here is the link to the Facebook Class of '81 page... Facebook Page.

I do have a little news...

I had a great pow-wow with Gaz (a.k.a. Alan Zrust) this past week about a project he is working on. Other than farming up by Goultry, Alan has gotten into chopper building and modifying. If he doesn't get on Facebook I'll post some pics of his choppers here.

There's a lot of fun going on through Facebook but I'll keep updating this site from time to time and also keep all of our reunion photos here.

See you all soon at the 30 year!!!

Prayer Request

Special Prayer Request from Heather Herndon in Oklahoma City for her mother, Ann Herndon, who has bile duct cancer. She was diagnosed with this cancer in November 2008.

She is the director of personnel for Enid Public Schools and once taught grade school at McKinley.

She has a very large tumor on her liver that is covering the portal vessels so she can't have surgery until the tumor has shrunk 50%. She has to take chemo everyday and has to have a stint in her bile duct to keep it open.

She needs all the prayer she can get. Email Heather at: hherndon@hotmail.com

Enid High 2009

The buildings north of Enid High have all been torn down and there's a nice view of the school that will not remain long. New medical buildings will soon be built and this great view will be lost. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Ronnie Peck

Some of you may remember Ronnie Peck. He went to school with several folks in our class up until 1976 (Coolidge Elementary School) when his parents moved to Ames, OK where he finished his education. Ronnie would have graduated with the class of '81 had he not moved.

The picture above was taken during a Vegas trip November before last during the Professional Bull Riding held at Thomas and Mack Arena.

Ronnie is wondering if anyone knows what happened to Tamera Root?

Contact Ronnie (ronfromok7@msn.com) if you went to Coolidge!

Mark Hutchison Update

An update from Mark:

Classmates, it's nice to connect again. It's been a long time since 1981. As you all may have heard, I had an accident on Aug. 10, 2007. Me, Mike Brown, Scott Myers and Ron Black were small mouth bass fishing on the Glover River in McCurtain County Oklahoma. It's such a remote area there's no cell service. Scott, Mike and I have been going for several years.
It was Ron's first trip. (Sorry Ron you didn't get many fish)

I decided to take the road less traveled to get to the river, fell and landed head first in the river, face down in 4 inches of water. I was paralyzed. But I could see my daughters, ages 17, 12 and 8 now, in my mind, and I refused to check out.

I was able to lift my head enough to call for help every minute or so. By the grace of God, Mike heard me, pulled me to safety and Scott and Ron weren't far behind. A helicopter took me to Arkansas and I was transferred to Oklahoma City, where I spent 123 days in the hospital and rehab with a spinal cord injury.

My doctor told me I was a quadriplegic and would probably live in a nursing home the rest of my life. I called bullshit.

I was right. I have my arms and hands back. I can feel my right foot. I can do everything but put the dastardly sheets on my bed.

I returned to work at The Oklahoman newspaper in February 2008. I have worked there 20 years. Today I'm in charge of the investigative team, rooting out corrupt politicians and scam artists. I have a handicapped van and am mobile.

I am in a wheelchair, but refuse to accept that as my final fate. Thank you so much for your phone calls, cards and e-mails, especially Robin, Amy, Mark, Holly and countless others. I'm humbled. It's made a difference.

Joni Brown gave me a sign to put over my fireplace. It reads: "Never Believe In Never!"

She is so right.

I'd like to hear from you any time. My e-mail is mahutch1@yahoo.com and phone is 405-324-0571.

Looking forward to the next reunion.

Brent and Shelly Campbell Update

Brent Eugene Campbell is alive and well in Kansas City, still married to Shelly Breckenridge Campbell (27 years). He is currently doing that mysterious computer stuff Shelly doesn't understand for a company in Topeka, KS and commuting. They are very involved in their church and their youngest son's school.

Shelly has been the "Church Secretary" at Faith Community Church for around six years and is currently on a 4 week hiatus to spend time with family and get some household projects done. They have one son, Taylor 15, left at home full-time and one son, Nicholas 19, home summers from Dordt College. Their oldest two kids, Alicia and Jeremy, have children of their own and they are blessed with three grandchildren so far with one more on the way in the fall.

Life is good, very busy, but very good. They were sad they missed the 25 year reunion and plan to attend the 30.

The Campbell grand kids...
